In website flipping as with any other career or business, the best person to dish out tips about it is one who has “been there, done that.” Jay Piecha, or “Suite J” to his numerous customers is one such expert. He started out as a web designer but moved on to being a site flipper, designing and building niche sites then selling them for a profit. Many of his startup sites can be found on the Warrior Forum.
I was given the opportunity of interviewing him and he shared some valuable tips that I’m sure many of those new to the business would really appreciate. Here are the 5 key points that Suite J shared on the business of selling startup sites and website flipping in general.
1. Unless you have a lot of passion for what you do, you’ll be able to find other ways to make money.
As mentioned earlier, Jay was previously into full-time freelance web designing and while he did find some satisfaction in it, he soon found out that there were a lot of other ways to increasing one’s income through web-based businesses. And with his talent for design, one of these potential methods was through building niche websites. For Jay, another good thing about going into website flipping over that of designing for clients is that he had a lot more control over what he wanted to make without anyone telling him what he should do. Plus, when you build startup sites, you can even sell the same types of sites over and over again.
2. Be ready to provide the best customer service you can offer.
Startup niche sites tend to be designed for and bought by individuals who are just starting out to online marketing. As such, they could require extra assistance in getting things going. But even with the sheer number of experienced Internet marketers these days, it’s still tough finding someone who can provide that help. Be prepared share what knowledge you have to potential customers and they will not forget you on their way up.
3. Don’t be tempted to do everything on your own.
We can’t be adept in everything, so with those skills that aren’t your strongest, find individuals who can do it. Jay’s talent is on design. When flipping websites however, you would need a complete package so for the content needs of his sites, he outsources the work.
4. Make a statement and stand out.
One infallible way of becoming a success in website flipping is being able to successfully identify yourself with a specific niche. Think of ways of doing things in a different way and offering something that other would-be customers can’t find easily. For instance, how about throwing in some high-quality articles together with the website you are selling? That’s a proposal most potential buyers would not turn down. And when you do find some success, be ready with other new ideas as others can easily copy what you’re doing.
5. Put together a mailing list.
This may seem to hold a lot of value for a starter, but Jay claims that this could be one of your primary weapons in building your network of followers or potential buyers. To be able to communicate messages which are tailor-made for the subscribers you are targetting, you should deliberate having two lists: one for those who have actually bought a website from you, and another for those who may do so in the future.
If you are new to flipping websites, these 5 tips from a succesful website flipper should go a long way in helping you get rolling in the business.
